Why Martha Maker? 

Nine years ago we brought Martha, our cat, home. It was the start of building our lives together in our humble house in Melbourne, Australia. Will, Erin and Martha. Our little family of three. 

Six years ago, I started learning ceramics and fell in love with the complexity of working with clay. I would spend hours on the wheel at home with Martha by my side. 

Three years ago, we uprooted everything to travel the world, and sadly said goodbye to our home, my pottery wheel and Martha. 

We've now settled in Canberra, Australia. I've rediscovered my passion for pottery, but Martha has stayed in Melbourne where she has found a new home with my parents. She was such a big part of my early pottery journey, so it's only fitting. 

My pottery is inspired by simple forms, colours of Canberra and a love of bringing people together around a dinner table.
